-
Q: Where are nutrition counseling sessions located?
-
A: All counseling sessions will be held virtually via HIPPA-compliant video conferencing services.
-
-
Q: How long do sessions last?
-
A: Initial intake assessments are 1 hour and follow-up visits are 45 minutes in length.
-
-
Q: How much do you charge?
-
A: My self-pay rate is $200 per session.
-
-
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
-
A: I require 24 business hours notice for all cancellations, and charge the full cost of the session for cancellations not providing 24 business hours notice. For example, if we have a session on Monday morning at 9am, to avoid these fees you would need to cancel by 9am Friday morning the week before. All federal holidays are included in this policy!

-
Q: Do you accept insurance?
-
A: Yes, I am considered an In-Network Provider with Blue Shield of California PPO, Aetna PPO, United HealthCare, Hill Physicians HMO and Medicare. Individual insurance plans have different levels of coverage for "Medical Nutrition Therapy" (the type of service I provide). See below for a list of questions to ask your insurance company.
-
I am also considered an "Out-of-network" provider with all other insurance carriers. This means I will collect my fee up front and I provide a "Superbill" of services provided to claim out-of-network benefits. Depending on your insurance, this can mean reimbursement from 50-90% (after your deductible is met, if applicable).

-
Q: Do you require a referral to start nutrition counseling?
-
A: For self-pay patients, no!
-
A: For insurance-based patients, it depends. Many insurance plans do not require a referral to see a specialist, however as a Registered Dietitian I cannot diagnose medical conditions. In some cases, I require documentation of a medical diagnosis to bill insurance companies and this often comes in the form of a referral.
